Just a quick sketch of one of my favorite music artists, Amine.
Decision making is essential to developing both the type of Artwork and Art practice that an artist wants to create. Decision making is a concept that is not always seen as a part of Visual Arts and is more aligned with Science and Math focused careers (the more stereotypical “logical“ jobs). However, if an artist wants direction, considering a roadmap of where they are now and then outlining potential steps to get to where they want to be is vitally important. Decision making is of significant benefit to the artist. What does decision making in Art look like, beyond deciding what formal elements go together to create an attractive project? It looks like deciding what type of artist you want to be. Do you want to sell prints on Etsy, or do you want to make Artwork that will be a part of the Western Art historical narrative? What certain things attract you to a piece of Artwork and what does not? What is happening in your life that is relevant to you that should be investigated in your artwork? As an artist, I plan to continue the practice of intentional decision making throughout my entire career.
