I realized that it was good I took a long break from Art because it let me learn that I am actually really good at drawing in marker, and I love coming up with new ideas for projects. Before the AACF (African-American Cultural Festival), I thought I was only capable of drawing with graphite pencils and painting, which was pretty boring for me because: a) I have only painted realistically once, and b) graphite isn’t that fun because it’s only black and white. I also learned to be patient because I almost threw away the Young Thug drawing because I couldn’t figure out how to put shadows on his face with markers. But eventually I did and it turned out pretty fine. I also learned that I’m best able to create Art when I am open to experimenting with new approaches.
